Florida has long been a popular place to buy a summer home and recent data shows that this trend continues. If you're one of the many investing in a new home here, then consider the kinds of windows that will come with your purchase and whether or not you should get some custom replacements. You may be interested in buying a new house whether you're already a Florida resident or not.
A desirable place
According to ATTOM Data Solutions, Florida is home to many of the most desirable places to purchase a summer home this year. The company judged these areas on several different criteria, including the local air quality, crime level and average temperature during the summer months.
In a list of 100 cities, Florida contributed many of the entries, including half of the top ten locations, the highest-placing of these being Port Charlotte. The least expensive median sales price ($80,900) belonged to a Florida city, Beverly Hills, as did four of the five locations with a 5-year home price appreciation rate of 100 percent or higher. Florida also ranked highly for air quality: the Sunshine State's city with the lowest percentage of good air quality days, Sun City Center, still placed far above much of the competition with a rate of 93.1 percent.
"Florida single-family home sales seemed to show a gain between 2016 and 2017."
Florida sales doing well
In general, it appears that home sales in Florida are doing well, as Florida Realtors said in a June press release. This statement expressed a gain in single-family home sales and median price from 2016 to 2017. The median price for this kind of home at this time was $239,000, the source said, and 27,850 homes fitting this definition sold.
Dr. Brad O'Connor, the organization's Chief Economist, called the home sales figures for May "record highs" and explained the significance of these figures in particular.
"To be more specific, May's sale totals of 27,850 existing single family homes and 11,538 existing condos and townhomes were the most ever recorded (by Florida Realtors) for a single month in either property type category," he said. "In both cases, these totals were also markedly higher than the very strong number of sales racked up in May of 2016."
The bottom line? Home sales seem to be looking good for the state, and if you're one of those buyers shopping for your next home, it's also a perfect time to consider the advantages of custom home windows made to fit your new property specifically. Get sturdy factory-made pieces that are built to last, and you can move into your new residence in style, or prepare a second home for the long run.
